Characters Name: Lavi
Age: 19
Canon: D.Gray-man (manga)
Canon Point: Chapter 171 (his last appearance before the time skip)
Species: human
Gender: Male
Orientation:
Lavi is a huge flirt. He flirts mostly with women and does like beautiful women. This is mostly a facade as he has no attraction to anyone really. I would place him as questionable because I could see him flirting with anyone really.
History: to the end of the "Disappearance of Cross Marian arc"
Appearance:
Lavi is a tall, skinny rail. He measures at about 6'1 with fiery red hair he usually props up into a mess with a bandana. He wears an eyepatch over one eye (the reason of this isn't exactly known, but it has something to do with why he became a Bookman) while the other is bright green and very expressive. He tends to stare at people.
While Lavi's exact origins aren't known, the character guide says he's some sort of mostly-Asiatic mix.
While he does seem to have a love for puffy coats, he tends to wear tighter clothes, choosing tight pants, a v-neck shirt, and boots. He also loves scarves. He also wears a pair of small hoop earrings.
The artbook also shows him as a rather snappy dresser, choosing pants, collared shirts, and vests.
Personality:
Lavi has a very friendly, uninhibited personality. He speaks plainly and straight-forwardly, able to get along with virtually anyone he meets. In return, most people he meets get along with him too. Initially this was completely a front, but during his time with the Order, this became part of his real personality. While he's generally a distrusting person, he trusts the fellow Order members with his life.
To be objective, Lavi tends to suppress his emotions. When his friends were badly wounded or killed, the emotions overwhelm him. He can't seem to handle them when they well up and overwhelm his logical mind. When that happens, Lavi somewhat loses logical reasoning, preferring to go after his friends or help them out instead of sacrificing one to help the many. In the end, this usually works out, although he's nearly died doing it.
Lavi also has a slight prankish side. When he finds Allen asleep on the train, he draws on Allen's face (badly, at that) and he braids Kanda's hair when he finds him asleep. Similarly, Lavi has the tendency to give people nicknames. Sometimes they're based on the person's actual names, but others are based on appearance or something notable about that person. The nicknames stick and it takes quite a bit to get him to let one go.
Lavi has a tendency to not sit still. In fact, sitting still on his feet was a punishment Bookman had given him. His attention, however, is pretty constant, although it tends to be split among a few things.
While Lavi may appear easy going and incredibly whimsical on the outside, inside he's constantly observing the surroundings and events. His hypersensitivity makes him very aware of everything going on around him, every detail about them, everything in his near surroundings, even during combat. He's able to sort out and recite whatever he's seen or noted.
Much of what others see is merely a facade. In truth, Lavi's very serious, straight forward, and often cold and callous. As a Bookman's apprentice, he'd witnessed more battles than he'd care to admit, seeing the horrors of war and murder, of people destroying others for no reason at all. It turned him cold to people, untrusting. The Order changed that in him. While he still has some cold tendencies, he at some point began seeing the exorcists and friends instead of just ink in a history book. He's not sure when it happened, but he can't separate himself from them. He is capable of making friends genuinely. The Order changed that in him.
Abilities:
* photographic memory. Lavi remembers everything he sees, feels, hears, and reads. It's one of the reasons he was selected to be a Bookman's Successor. He records every detail and is capable of picking an object he's seen out of a pile of similar objects with relative ease and speed. He does seem to be scatterbrained about himself, however it's unclear whether that's real or just another facade.
* first aid. lavi learned first aid skills from Bookman on their travels across the world. His exact proficiency is unknown, but he's been shown to know how to make antidotes for poison, bandage and treat wounds, and care for bumps and bruises.
* listening to a multitude of people talking at the same time and being able to sort out each conversation and understand each one. Lavi listened to multiple transmissions within the Order and was able to sort out each one individually. The anime mentions this as an ancient Asiatic technique Bookman had beat into his head.
* reading and memorizing books very fast. Lavi can read encyclopedia-size books overnight. Lavi pulls overnighters when he needs to cram information into his mind. He likes sleep, but never seems to get it.
* Innocence. As an Exorcist, Lavi's compatible with Tessei, which he's dubbed the Size-Shifting Hammer. It does just that: shift sizes. He can also use it to cast elemental seal spells. He currently knows fire spells, defensive wind spells, and heaven spells which can control the weather. He has several other seals which he has not shown their abilities. He's also proficient in combat simply involving a hammer or a staff.
* Martial arts skills. Lavi's shown strong proficiency in fighting close combat with just a small knife (dream world) and a staff (attack on the Order). Lavi is proficient in martial arts in general, as seen when he fights Allen in the Ark. He's ridiculously strong, claiming that an iron hammer is lightweight and he managed to fight off a Level4 akuma with nothing more than a stick (Well he had some help from Kanda...)
* multi-lingual. While Lavi generally speaks English, he's spoken other languages before.
* appearing out of nowhere. Lavi has a strange ability to seemingly appear out of nowhere. He does this several times, appearing behind a stack of books, in a barrel, and randomly in a hallway. It is unknown how he does this.
* somewhat of a sixth sense of place. As Lavi always has one eye covered, he seems to have developed a sense of what's near him on his left side in his one blind spot, almost like having a phantom eye. He was able to sense someone attempting to sneak up on him several times and seems to always know who's standing on that side without looking. The sense may also give him the illusion of having good depth perception. This sense isn't infallible, however, and has failed him a few number of times, especially when dealing with inhuman objects like attacks or projectiles
* Lavi has a fascination with numbers. He's very good with them, particularly memorizing them and solving numeric problems. He's undoubtedly very proficient in math.
Other: In Japanese, his speech is very informal and friendly, perhaps reflecting an easy going form of English (since the Exorcists canonically speak English, not Japanese).

Third Person:
Well this wasn't right. Lavi pulled the book off his face and looked up at the sky. It was peaceful and... warm? Wait, it was winter last he remembered, and England was really cold. It was snowing, too, which was why he'd holed himself inside up in the library, perusing all the volumes he could find. He had some sort of conspiracy to research, but it was cold and he needed a nap. So he'd buried himself beneath some books and went to take just a quick nap.
Yeah, maybe something didn't go right or maybe he was just dreaming.
He reached down for his hammer, only to notice that the holster he usually wore around his leg wasn't there. The hammer was gone. Well, that was it. Either he was dreaming or Bookman was going to use him as a pin cushion for being an idiot.
The redhead rose to his feet, looking around at the buildings. They were all the same, down to the very last blade of grass. God this was creepy. But there was something about this place that had him intrigued. His Bookman senses were tingling. Why was this place like this? Was it even real? And what did all these keys in his pocket belong to? His first guess was probably the house that sat behind him. Surely one of the keys belonged to it. He took a quick glance at the keys, noting the colors and shapes, every detail down to the complete lack of scratches and wear. For such old-fashioned keys, they looked like they'd just been made. Now he really was curious.
